What is a buffer?
A buffer is a circuit designed so that it passes the input signal unchanged to the output. input signal. The "secret" is that this particular buffer circuit has a very high input impedance (10Mohm) and variable output impedance (0~220kohm). Without getting into many details this eventually means that it improves the frequency response of your overall pedal chain so that you don't lose your tone as your highs aren't getting sucked up.
